Another week in which the Philadelphia Union trades a popular player. KYW’s Greg Orlandini and Philly Soccer Page writers Mike Servedio and Eli Pearlman-Storch try to make sense of the news in the latest edition of the KYW Philly Soccer Show.
In part one, the pod discusses where the Califf trade leaves the team, both in the leadership department and in the defense. They also take a look at who the team may get in return.
Also in part one, the guys talk about the loss to New York. The Union played one of their best games of the year in the 3-2 defeat, a game that saw the team go down to 10 men with the first-half ejection of Freddy Adu.
In part two, Greg, Mike and Eli turn to Saturday’s game when the Union head to Texas to play an injury-depleted FC Dallas. With the likely departure of Califf, the guys look at the probable lineup the Union may play, in defense and offense.
In part three, the pod are joined by the head coach of the Philadelphia Fever of the WPSL Elite League. The Fever take the pitch on Sunday at 7:30pm against New England Mutiny in their home opener at Washington Township High School in New Jersey. Gore talks about starting the new team and the roster of young talent he hopes to develop.
