Union 2011 season opener announced

The Philadelphia Union announced on Tuesday that the 2012 season opener will take place against Portland Timbers at Jeld-Wen Field on Monday, March 12.

Kickoff will be at 9:30pm EST and the match will be nationally broadcast on ESPN2, ESPN Deportes and ESPN3.

The Union recently announced that the home opener will take place on Sunday, March 18. The opponent and time are to be announced at a later date.

The season opener in Portland marks the third consecutive time the Union have started their season on the road.

The Union are 0–1–1 against Portland, losing 0–1 on the road and drawing 0–0 at PPL Park.
