Local singer rocks new Union song

Philadelphia Union now have an unofficial team song.

No, not a supporters group chant. A rock song, by legit musicians. And it’s pretty good.

Local musician Jay D Clark laid down the track, “Join or Die”, with Chuck Treece, a well-known session artist who has performed with Pearl Jam, Billy Joel, Busta Rhymes, Bad Brains and numerous others. The two collaborated on Clark’s recent LP, Fall of the City. (For more of Clark’s music, click here.)

Clark also sports some genuine local soccer cred, with a resume that includes playing stints with Upper Dublin High School, Old Dominion and Temple universities, FC Delco, United German Hungarians, and the Casa Soccer League. (Plus, he reads the Philly Soccer Page, which means he’s all kinds of smart.)

So check out the song and video above and pass it along.

Update: Clark is looking for fans to record chanting and singing for a final version of the track. Email management@jaydclark.com if interested.

  1. Incredible song, and I’m not even into that kind of music.
