You heard about it on PhillySoccerPage first (or pretty close to first, right?), and now we have video of Eddie Johnson’s first goal for Greek club Aris. The service from Freddy Adu is, well, breathtaking. It just goes to show you that if he was always allowed to take five dribbles up the pitch with zero pressure while the fastest man on the field makes a run behind the defense, Adu would already be living up to the hype.

Historically (and admittedly, it’s a short history), Wonderland has brought you spectacular footy highlights, moments meant to jolt your love of the game back into top gear before the weekend matches. Today’s Wonderland takes place pre-match.

Before every game, the supporters of Liverpool Football Club sing a rendition of the club’s theme song, an old Gerry and the Pacemakers number called, “You’ll Never Walk Alone”. And never do they sing louder than before the local derby against Everton.

As the two teams face off at 7:30am tomorrow (on ESPN2, set your DVR), this seems an appropriate time to bring you one of the great sounds of sports.

Oregon State has a pretty good State of the Program video… because Danny Mwanga is a pretty good player. The first minute features two Mwanga highlights; check out his speed in the first one and the technique on display in the second.

So the Philadelphia Union will build their attack around an 18 year old from Oregon State named Danny. I wonder what he did last year?

A 2009 M.A.C. Hermann Trophy semifinalist, Mwanga led the Pac-10 in multiple offensive categories including: goals scored (14), points per game (1.67), goals per game (0.78) and game-winning goals (5). He finished second in points (30). His mark in goals per game ranked him third in the NCAA.

Here’s Rocky Baptiste missing from about 1 yard away on an empty net. Luckily his (non league) Harrow Borough side was up 5-3 when he decided that he really didn’t need to pad his individual stats on that day. I think my favorite part is his teammate who is celebrating the goal until realizes that it didn’t actually go in. The 2nd part of the video is taken from a game earlier in the season, proving that Baptiste is actually a quite capable striker, a little further from the goal.
