Fans wanted for new podcast and Fans’ View

We’re looking for soccer fans.

PSP needs two more writers to contribute to our Fans’ View feature about once a month during this season.

Also, we’re supporting a new podcast started by Chris Straub-Wallace called ZoloTalk. It would be different from other podcasts in that it would be a podcast by Union fans for Union fans, specifically intended to give you a megaphone. In conjunction with Chris, we want to create a rotation of Union fans taking part in the show, to get various views for the podcast and provide another megaphone for the voice of the fan.

Are you interested?

Here’s more detail.

Writers for Fans’ View

We’re looking for writers for our Fans’ View feature. This is a weekly feature handled by a rotating team of four writers in which you write about what it’s like to be a fan — sharing your unique background, experiences, and perspective as soccer fans in the Philadelphia area. We aim for a broad spectrum of views and representation of voices, which is why we rotate much of the team yearly.

While the Union are the biggest game in town, we’d love to publish pieces about other parts of the local soccer community. Some points of view we’ve never had include fans writing about:

  • the minor league experience (Bethlehem Steel, Penn FC, Ocean City Nor’easters, Junior Lone Star FC, Reading United, etc.);
  • women’s soccer;
  • scholastic soccer (college/high school);
  • what it’s like being part of a Union supporters group (Bearfight Brigade, Sons of Ben, etc.);
  • and plenty of other points of view not listed here.

This entails about 1 post every 4 weeks. The average post runs about 500 words.

If you’ve ever had the itch to write about soccer, think you have an interesting experience to share, or simply just have a lot of thoughts, please reach out.

Guests on new Union fan podcast

ZoloTalk will feature host Chris Straub-Wallace and a rotating group of Union fans sounding off on the Union.

It doesn’t take much commitment on your part. All you have to do is:

  • Let us know you’re interested.
  • Chris will link up with you.
  • Then it’s just a phone call, or you two get together in person.
  • You two have fun talking about the Union for a while. Chris records.
  • Boom, you’re done.
  • If it goes really well and you want to, maybe you do it again. And again. And again. (And …)

No commitment beyond that.
