Former captain Maurice Edu isn’t a free agent, but he can sign where he wants.

Three Union youth products are training with the first team in Florida (and one scored a goal the other day).

The Union continue preseason with a scrimmage against University of South Florida tonight at 7 p.m. No word on streaming yet.

To no one’s surprise, Jermaine Jones went off on Twitter/Instagram last night, claiming that the draw to decide whether he played for New England or Chicago was rigged. The Revs president directly addressed and refuted Jones.

MLS to Miami isn’t quite a done deal yet, despite the party, and Overtown residents – location of the proposed stadium site – are not thrilled. For those who don’t know, Overtown has long been screwed by development, segregation, and gentrification.

Continuing to add to their impressive offseason haul, D.C. United signed talented Atlanta United midfielder Yamil Asad.

LAFC sign midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye from USL side Louisville City.

  1. Thanks for the link to the Brianna Scurry article.
I just finished watching the embedded link to the last few minutes of the 99 final shootout against China.
God that was a great match.

We’re getting out off-seasoned by every team.

    • Nah, NE is winning that one. I’d say we are in the lower part of the middle of the pack. Kinda like where we end up in the standings every year.

      • Pete Mazzaccaro says:

I don’t know. they signed a Swedish left back, a French midfielder and an Ecuadorian winger. They actually replaced their coach for not performing…. If not for the Nguyen situation, I’d say the Union was off the pace.

      • ” If not for the Nguyen situation” 😉

That is a huge part of their off-season. Making your best player disgruntle doesn’t help things.

      • Union are the worst run club in MLS. Period.

  3. FYI – the “why do fans riot after sports ball” link sends you to the article about 1-95 and Overtown.

  4. So are any windows still open right now? Are we actually able to get a #10 at this point?

    • Pete Mazzaccaro says:

South America. Argentina’s window closes tomorrow. Brazil opens today. Uruguay is open until March. Columbia until Feb. 23. And US. Can still get Nguyen….

      • Thought we can pick up players from Europe, they team that sold them would just not be able to pick up a replacement.

Similar to how England closes before Spain, so they can sell but not buy on that day.

      • Pete Mazzaccaro says:

That’s true. European surplus is always up for grabs. Riyad Mahrez perhaps? 🙂

  5. I don’t see how the Revs President refuted Jones. Just because he witnessed a draw via Skype doesn’t mean said draw wasn’t rigged. What reason would Jones have to lie about having a phone call where Garber informed him he was going to New England regardless? I can think of a good reason for MLS owners and employees to claim Jones claims were false, but can’t understand why Jones would lie.
    .
Don’t forget, Jones moving to New England was only months after Garber allowed Dempsey to sign with Seattle for no apparent reason despite the fact that Portland had the 1st spot in the allocation order.

  6. Just checked the Union website and there will be no streaming tonight but if you are down in the area, the scrimmage is open to the public.

    • Old Soccer Coach says:

We can hope the twitter account will tell us how many periods of what length and who starts them.
      .
The opponent has at least one Academy graduate in the program.
      .
But is not likely to be the same level of test as was Red Bull’s, or as will be the Fire Thursday morning.
