In pictures: 2018 MLS SuperDraft

The coaches of all 23 teams (with the exception of Atlanta) gather for a photo.

About sixty LAFC supporters made the trip to Philadelphia and they were in full voice.

Expansion team LAFC is on the clock to open the 2018 draft.

With the first pick of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft, Los Angeles Football Club selects Joao Moutinho from Akron University.

Moutinho, a native of Portugal and product of Sporting Lisbon’s touted youth program, is a defender that LAFC feel has the ability to step right into the first team and contribute.

The second pick went to cross town rivals LA Galaxy. With it they select standout defender Tomas Hilliard-Arce from Stanford. At Stanford he won three consecutive NCAA titles including the 2017 College Cup in Philly.

Following their first overall pick, LAFC trades up in the draft to grab another defender. Tristan Blackmon from The University of the Pacific goes third overall.

The draft board begins to fill up…

With the sixth pick goes forward Chris Mueller out of Wisconsin. Not a bad name to have as a forward.

With no picks in the first two rounds, Jim Curtin and the Union look to make moves outside of the draft.

Another participant at the NCAA Men’s College Cup in December is Indiana’s Mason Toye. He’s taken by Minnesota United with the seventh pick.

Western Michigan’s c goes number eight to New England.

Columbus Crew bolster their goalkeeper depth by grabbing Virginia Tech Hokie Ben Lundgaard.

The Union’s war room was busy as they managed to sign designated player David Accam from the Chicago Fire.

Like David Accam, Edward Opoku is a native of Ghana. Opoku gave an emotional speech about how soccer and the MLS has opened doors for many Ghanaians.

  1. I enjoy that you enjoy taking pictures of soccer, especially when you are taking them at home games for the Bethlehem Steel!
