Eastern PA Youth Soccer’s Futbol Friday

With the CONCACAF Gold Cup third place game at PPL Park on Friday, July 24, and the championship final at the Linc on Sunday, July 26, Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer has partnered with the Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University Hospital and Red Card Cancer to promote Futbol Friday,

An opportunity for area soccer fans to show their love for the game while also contributing to the fight against cancer, fans are encouraged to wear their favorite soccer jersey to raise awareness of cancer research and also make a donation by clicking here. The suggested minimum donation is $5 and 100 percent of all proceeds will go to Red Card Cancer and the Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University Hospital.

Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer has also teamed up with Modell’s Sporting Goods as part of Futbol Friday. Donation boxes will be set up at five area stores — Center City, Northeast Philly, Clifton Heights, the Neshaminy Mall, and Philadelphia Mills — and 15 percent off coupon’s will be distributed. A portion of all purchases will go to Red Card Cancer and the Fox Chase Cancer Center at Temple University Hospital.

On Friday evening, Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer will host a Futbol Friday Happy Hour at Fado Irish Pub & Restaurant at 15th and Locust in Center City from 5-8 PM. Drink and appetizer specials will be available to anyone wearing a soccer jersey or shirt. Specials include $4 Strongbow Ciders and Yuengling Lights, $5 well drinks, $5 house wines, and $5 select appetizers.

Donations can also be made a Fado’s. Those who make a donation will be entered into a raffle to win prizes from Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer’s various partners.

“Friday, July 24 is a day anyone and everyone can show their support in the fight against cancer,” Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer CEO Chris Branscome said. “The support from Modell’s and Fado makes it easier and adds a little fun.”
