He’s a Philly-area native and now he is in charge of his hometown club. Interim Philadelphia Union head coach Jim Curtin is the guest on the latest edition of KYW Philly Soccer Show. The Oreland native talks with KYW‘s Greg Orlandini and PSP‘s Eli Pearlman-Storch about the team’s recent good play, with 3 wins in the US Open Cup, which earned them a berth in the semifinals against FC Dallas, and a 1-1 record in MLS play.
Curtin also talks about some possible signings for the team, with Jamaican forward Brian Brown set to arrive soon, as well as the possible return of former captain Carlos Valdes. The Colombian defender was on loan the last two seasons to Santa Fe in Colombia and San Lorenzo of the Argentine league and played one game for Colombia in the World Cup this year.
Then Kevin Kinkead of CBS 3, Soccerly, and PSP joins Greg and Eli to continue the Union discussion and then talk some World Cup ahead of Sunday’s final between Germany and Argentina.

i feel like i said this before in another comment but i really like jim curtin. i’m not saying he needs to be given the job permanently tomorrow but i really like his mindset. he is so direct and honest and he doesn’t try to get too cute or clever with his tactics and approach. i also really believe him when he says that it doesn’t matter to him what his position is in the team as long as we win. its also nice to hear that he is involved in the new coach process; he seems to be handling it in a really mature way
