Junior Lone Star FC defender Anthony Dunor has signed a pro contract with Frano SK of Sweden’s Division III Mellersta Norrland League. Dunor was invited for a week-long tryout with the Swedish club after a recommendation from Overbrook High School graduate and former Junior Lone Star FC forward Anthony Allison.

Dunor formally signed with Frano SK on June 16 after his transfer was agreed to by Junior Lone Star FC and approved by the US Soccer Federation.

On Wednesday, Dunor played his first-ever pro game for his new club in a 1-0 away win over Gottne IF.

Anthony Dunar w Junior Lone Star“Following some impressive displays for both our U-23s and the First Team in the NPSL over the years, Anthony Dunor was asked to tryout with Frano SK, a club which also has a former forward of ours in Anthony Allison,” said Junior Lone Stars head coach Bobby Ali. “We are very proud to have groomed Dunor and given him this opportunity and we wish him the best as he continues his journey to play at the highest level.”

The 23-year-old from Liberia appeared in 19 games for the Stars in the National Premier Soccer League over the past two seasons, including making five appearances this season before he left for Europe. He also captained the U-23s to two successive USASA U-23 Regional Finals.

“It has always been my dream to play in Europe and I’m thankful to Anthony Allison as well as the entire coaching staff and front office staff at Junior Lone Star FC for believing in me and giving me this opportunity to progress to the next level,” said Dunor. “I will continue to work hard on all levels of my game and I will definitely make the JLSFC organization very proud.”

Dunor is expected to play his second game for Frano SK in what will be his home debut against league leaders Solleftea GIF FF on Wednesday, June 25 before the league takes a one-month break.

Allison began playing in Sweden after signing with Swedish Division II Norrland club Harnosands FF for the 2012 season.
