LBF partners with local retailer for a unique soccer store

A new and unique soccer store will be opening in Media on Saturday that includes a partnership with the local soccer apparel whiz kids from Live Breathe Futbol.

Media FC, located at 300 West State Street in Media, Pa., is owned by Tom Kennedy, who teamed up with LBF founders Ebun Olaloye and Domenick Cucinotta to design and curate “a unique shopping experience.”

Olaloye told PSP, “Our role was to design and curate the store. So we came up with the branding and layout of the store as well as select the products in it.”

In addition to carrying all of the top brands, including LBF’s own apparel designs, Media FC features big screen TVs that will show games from around the world and a FIFA 14 game room where customers can play the world’s most popular video game

Olaloye said, “As a soccer player in Philadelphia, I’m well aware of the lack of a suitable retail space in or close to the city. So our goal was to create a cool, destination soccer store for everyone in and around the city of Philadelphia. We offer a wide range of brands and products so kids and adults alike will find something that they like in the store.”

Olaloye explained, “I’ve been to many soccer stores in my life and they’re largely the same. With this opportunity, we wanted to create something special where people who come in feel that they are in more than a retail space. We have 5 big screen TVs around the store that will play soccer games at all times, with two 42″ TVs in the dedicated FIFA game room. The game room has turf and stadium seating. The main room has a foosball table in the center and the ‘boot room’ is a super cool LED-lit display. We wanted to step it up a notch and create something truly special that has the potential to become an icon in the ever-growing Philadelphia soccer landscape.”

For Olayloe and Cucinotta, this is their first experience dealing with the challenges of working with a physical retail space.

“The biggest challenge we’ve faced is getting the store together in time for our opening,” Olaloye said. “Being that we haven’t done a retail space before we had to learn on the fly and handle problems as they came. It’s been very challenging but also a lot of fun to see our vision come together so quickly.”

Media FC’s grand opening will take place at 11 am on Saturday, just in time to meet your holiday shopping needs.
