KYW Philly Soccer Show: Alejandro Moreno

A Philadelphia Union original who now sits in the broadcasters’ booth at PPL Park, Alejandro Moreno joins KYW’s Greg Orlandini and PSP’s Eli Pearlman-Storch in the latest installment of the KYW Philly Soccer Show.

Moreno played forward for the Union in the team’s first year, scoring two goals in 26 games. He wrapped up a successful ten-year MLS career in 2012 playing for Chivas USA, then made the move to broadcasting.

Along with his Union duties, he is also an ESPN commentator during broadcasts of the Mexican National Team and this year’s Confederations Cup.

Moreno talks about the Union, now in second place in the East. He also discusses his move from the pitch to the broadcast booth.

Next, Greg and Eli talk about the Union’s big 3-0 win against the New York Red Bulls.

The team took battered New York all game, who played with ten men for most of the match due to a Lloyd Sam red card after a hard foul on Danny Cruz.

But the Union face another tough test as FC Dallas comes to town on Saturday. Dallas currently sits third in the Western Conference and has one of the strongest rosters in MLS.

  1. moreno is such a great interview.

  2. probably my favorite interview yous have done to date.

  3. Wow, Moreno is so good. Let’s hope that we can keep him as our color guy as the Union job (Rigby aside) is usually a stepping stone to a national gig (Martino & Twellman).

    Great pod, Greg & Eli.
