The Philadelphia Union hit a low note, but the US National team is flying.

In the latest edition of the KYW Philly Soccer Show, KYW’s Greg Orlandini and PSP’s Eli Pearlman-Storch first talk Union as they crash out of the US Open Cup with a 3-1 loss to DC United in Maryland. The team, in the semifinals of the competition last year, have some time to lick their wounds, since they don’t return to MLS play until June 23rd at PPL Park, against the dreaded New York Red Bulls.

Greg and Eli then shift gears to something much more positive: the US Men’s National Team. PSP USMNT writer Jeremy Lane joins the show to discuss the Yanks’ great form in recent World Cup Qualifying with a 2-1 win at Jamiaca and a dominant 2-0 against Panama in Seattle.

The USA are at the top of the qualifying group and are very close to booking their trip to the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.
