Philadelphia Fever schedule announced

Women’s soccer fans eager to see the Philadelphia Fever, the newly founded team that will participate in the WPSL Elite League, now have some dates to circle on the calendar after the league released the 2012 schedule on Sunday.

The schedule consists of 14 games and includes teams as far north as former WPS club Boston Breakers and as far west as former WPS club Chicago Red Stars. Of particular interest to Independence fans is the July 15 match at home against new York Fury, the team coached by former Independence coach Paul Riley that includes several former Independence players.

The Fever, which will play in the Elite League as an NCAA compliant amateur team largely made up of local college players as well as former college players and professionals, will alternate its home matches between New Jersey and Pennsylvania, playing at Washington Township High School in Sewell, NJ and Daniel Boone High School in Birdsboro, PA. Most of the home games will be double headers featuring AC Crusaders of the National Premier Soccer League or Philadelphia Fury of US Club Soccer’s National Adult League, each of which is built on local talent. All three teams are backed by Atlantic Soccer Factory, a club-neutral company dedicated to training and educating the next generation of soccer players and the largest privately owned soccer education company in the Delaware Valley.
