United Soccer League scores

Starting this week, the Philly Soccer Page will post the scores each week for the United Soccer League, one of the best adult soccer leagues in the Delaware Valley.

For those unfamiliar with the league, the USL is home to some of the area’s oldest and most storied soccer clubs. United German Hungarians, for example, made the U.S. Open Cup finals twice (1977 and 1993) in the days before professional teams came to dominate it, and they have two teams in the leagues. The other clubs routinely go far in regional tourneys, and Phoenix SC won the EPSA Cup in 2009. It’s a small, exclusive league, and its teams play on fields scattered around the Delaware Valley.

And no, it’s not the same thing as the United Soccer Leagues, which are home to the Harrisburg City Islanders and Reading United AC.
